AI is revolutionizing radiology, simplifying and speeding up complex workflows—especially in time-sensitive areas like neuroimaging. Although AI for ultrasound has faced challenges due to the nature of the ultrasound technology and practice, remarkable progress is being made.

Alongside large traditional manufacturers, new players like Butterfly Network, Inc., Clarius Mobile Health, Exo, Forest Neurotech, Sonologi, Inc. and others, are pushing the boundaries of what is possible with ultrasound.

In this article, we discuss the place of AI in ultrasound practice and how new data could be a game-changer for neuro ultrasound.

Quantum leap in ultrasound imaging Part 3: Biomarker discovery

In a broad sense, quantitative imaging refers to the extraction and use of numerical features from medical images. According to the Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Alliance (QIBA), a biomarker is “an objective characteristic derived from an in vivo image measured on a ratio or interval scale as indicators of normal biological processes, pathogenic processes, or a response to a therapeutic intervention”.
